The app – called Touch Bar Piano – also allows users to pick various instrument voicings enabling them to switch between an acoustic grand piano and an electric. There are even xylophone and synth violin configurations.

This is a pretty unconventional usage of the Touch Bar. For the most part, apps that implement Touch Bar support usually add things like options, settings, menus and other similar utilities for users to easily access important settings. Main functionality is usually not implemented inside the Touch Bar. This is because Apple's guidelines state that the Touch Bar should be an extension of the keyboard, instead of being used as a display.
